Maria Root

438 Diamond Hill Rd

Maria Root, a ceramic and metal artist, hybridizes textures and forms inspired by nature. My ‘everlasting flowers’ are familiar and fantastical creations. My plates and bowls carved with fern and flowered scenes hint of abundance in a fantastical garden. All my pieces withstand daily use.

Years of experience contribute to the multiple techniques I use to create my pieces: throwing, hand-building, stretching, sculpting, carving, pulling, extruding, slicing, laminating, inlaying, screen printing, stamping, embedding wire, layering underglaze and glazes, and staining.

I create each piece with happiness and joy as working with clay is my meditation. If you smile when you hold one of my unique creations, you are one with my process.
