Natalie Menacho

3222 Point Lawrence Road

Natalie Menacho is a multi-disciplinary artist from Orcas Island with a passion for exploring the interplay between structure, fluidity, and spirit. Represented in her current mixed media abstract collection is the merging of her discoveries by means of detailed archival pen work, aquamarine alcohol inks, and lustrous golden leaf on wood board, framed in cedar.

She delves further into tactile delights by exploring various shapes and structures in her production of crystal glazed abstract sculpture and wall art ceramics, often incorporating leather and brass. Whether a standalone circle or a series of shapes bound together by metal or strap, her sculptural wall art indulges the notion of rustic modernity and Bohemian splendor.

Inviting beauty into everyday soft goods, Natalie also transforms cotton textiles into functional art objects such as ritual robes, bandanas, dish towels, and napkins by using traditional shibori folds and hand dyeing them in a naturally fermented dye vat made from organic indigo, organic henna, slaked lime, fructose, and water in her backyard. The blue is a vintage hue and each piece emerges uniquely dazzling, contributing a simple elegance and sense of place.
