Lynda works in a range of media, including resin, ink, wood, and metal. She enjoys “playing with color” Her paintings reflect abstract forms in bold color combinations. She incorporates mica powders, acrylic, as well as alcohol ink, and other materials to bring depth, color, contrast, and movement. Heat is often used to blend colors and create effects within the layers. Her live edge tables are made from a variety of native and/or salvaged wood. The tables highlight the wood's dramatic grain and muscular form. The finished pieces are mounted on custom steel bases, created to complement the wood. A self-described “wood junkie,” Lynda appreciates the texture, form, and substance of live edge pieces. Her tables are made from wood salvaged from various places in Western Washington. Lynda's steel sculptures reflect organic forms, often incorporating glass elements for contrast. Sculptures can be used indoors, or displayed outdoors as garden features. Inspired by nature, especially plants, rocks, water, and landscapes, Lynda is primarily self-taught and enjoys experimenting as she creates her pieces. She learned welding from fellow artist Maria Root and has created large metal sculptures for her property on the island. She is happy to discuss her art and techniques and appreciates learning from others.  Lynda and her family have been part-time Orcas residents for 25+ years. She enjoys working outdoors whenever possible, inspired by the backdrop of the Salish Sea and surrounding mountains—one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Beyond the island's physical beauty, she appreciates the spirit, talent, and deep sense of community that is found here on Orcas.
