“As humans, we look into ourselves to find words to connect to our emotions. Through artwork, we can see reflections of those feelings and directly relate them to where they belong when viewed. My artwork provides an outlet for me to tell a story I can’t always put into words, drawing directly from the human figure and form to create work that imitates movement and expression. Ceramics is a medium that is very physical. You watch a piece come to life and breath emotion through your fingertips. I work with clay for its fluidity, the way my eyes and hands can connect as one and form a visual emotion. The human form gives an inside look to expression. I look to the body to formulate the message I want to send, the movement telling a story that speaks the language of the feelings I want to evolve. The essence of my ceramic artwork is realism, which is where I begin in my process. From there, I let my creativity flow to merge an abstract idea into a realistic and natural form. This brings to life the ideas I want to convey.”
